Ukrainian Libraries in Wartime has been a set of initiatives at the iSchool since 2022. As a unit of the center, it continues the iSchool initiative to support public libraries in Ukraine and to educate about the state of libraries in Ukraine via ongoing symposia series.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine the center has provided support to the Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Taras Shevchenko in Cherkasy, and a City Library Branch for Children No. 1 of the Boyarka Public Library, Kyiv Region.

The center continues partnering with these two libraries in the current project aimed at bringing books to these villages:

This video shows the state and functioning of village libraries in Cherkasy region.

On this project we continue working with our Ukrainian partners – Liudmila Diadyk, director of the Cherkasy Regional Universal Scientific Library, and Marina Sokolova, head of the City Library Branch for Children No. 1 of the Boyarka Public Library.

We seek partnerships with academic, professional, and policy institutions. Recently, we worked with Loyola Marymount University to raise awareness with an exhibit of Ukrainian children’s drawings. For more information, check our current events page.
