Following the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kharkiv Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Library Association is implementing a multi-platform project “Libraries of Kharkiv Region under Martial Law” together with specialists from the Kharkiv Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Library Association. The project entails an ongoing digital publication “Libraries of Kharkiv Region under Martial Law: OSINT Intelligence Based on Open Sources” (https://archive.org/details/1_20230228_20230228_0845) and a virtual shortened copy on the Google website platform – “Libraries of Kharkiv Region under Martial Law: Timeline of Library Resistance” (https://tinyurl.com/2k3rflss).

By documenting real events and facts of civic, cultural, and informational resistance in the Kharkiv region during a journalistic investigation, and by recording cases of human rights violations, a team of like-minded people enlightens the world about the horrors of war and emphasizes on new wars prevention. The implementation of this project makes it possible to identify cultural institutions and librarians in need of urgent help. A crucial mission of the researchers is also to highlight the professionalism of courageous and heroic librarians working in difficult conditions in spite of anything.
