The iSchool has supported public libraries in Ukraine by educating people around the globe<\/span><span>\u00a0about the state of libraries in Ukraine via <a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/symposia\/?customize_changeset_uuid=c2bb35d5-8af8-4741-9f15-e400c2625c22&amp;customize_autosaved=on\">ongoing symposia series<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Since the start of the war in Ukraine we have worked to provide support to the Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Taras Shevchenko in Cherkasy, a City Library Branch for Children No. 1 of the Boyarka Public Library, Kyiv Region, and the Kherson Regional Universal Library in the city of Kherson.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>Our Regions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We currently have established and trusted contacts in three critical areas of Ukraine. They support local schools, elderly, internally displaced persons in addition to servicing their regular readers.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We are working to help 7 villages by raising $1000 per each village.<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span><a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/cherkasy\/836-2\/\">Garbuzyn<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/cherkasy\/valyava\/\">Valyava<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/cherkasy\/ivangorod\/\">Ivangorod<\/a> villages of Cherkasy region<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/boyarka\/novosilky\/\">Novosilky<\/a>,\u00a0<span><a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/boyarka\/maliutianka\/\">Maliutianka<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/boyarka\/kniajichi\/\">Kniajichi<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolblogs.sjsu.edu\/community-engagement\/ukrainian-libraries-in-wartime\/boyarka\/pereviz\/\">Pereviz<\/a> villages<\/span><span> in Boyarka district of Kiev region<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>On this project we continue working with our Ukrainian partners &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/ischool.sjsu.edu\/speaker\/liudmyla-diadyk\">Liudmila Diadyk<\/a>, director of the Cherkasy Regional Universal Scientific Library, and <a href=\"https:\/\/ischool.sjsu.edu\/speaker\/maryna-sokolova\">Marina Sokolova<\/a>, head of the City Library Branch for Children No. 1 of the Boyarka Public Library.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/gofund.me\/da683fa2\">Ukraine Little Book Houses<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nWe&#8217;re building library housed book spaces, consisting of handcrafted book houses and collections of children books. These spaces, designed by local Ukrainian artisans, will provide safe havens for children to read, learn, and dream. Your donation will contribute to the construction of these houses as well as filling them with children&#8217;s books. We have phased goals, starting with Cherkasy and expanding to Kyiv and other regions.<\/p>\n<div class=\"gfm-embed\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-literacy-for-ukraines-waraffected-kids\/widget\/medium?sharesheet=fundraiser sidebar&amp;attribution_id=sl:4f955653-8cc7-4006-ada0-c25375bc1047\"><\/div>\n<p><script defer src=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/static\/js\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/gofund.me\/6571c326\">Restore Kherson Braille Book Collection<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nThis project aims to redevelop a collection of Braille books at Oles Honchar Kherson Regional Universal Scientific Library (Kherson Library), which was repeatedly targeted and destroyed during the war in Ukraine.
